The mission of the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis is to provide a multidisciplinary and integrative research and training environment focused on the study of common themes in microbial pathogenesis through comparative analysis of diverse pathogens in a wide variety of human, animal, and plant hosts. This Center emphasizes creative and collaborative research, application of microbial community analysis techniques to the study of infectious diseases, and translation of basic research into the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostic tools, and uses this research program to train the next generation of scientists in the field of microbial pathogenesis.
